What you’ll find here

I cover the environmental and climate impacts of fluorinated gases (the F-GHGs). If you have no idea what they are, or why they are important, then you are very welcome here.

If you know a little about climate, energy, refrigeration or air-conditioning I think you’ll also find things of interest in the weekly newsletter. With my background in IT and automotive you’ll see some of those themes crop up also.

Why do I write? Below is the list of seven greenhouse gases that countries and companies should track and report. Maybe you can spot a pattern.

  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

  • Methane (CH4)

  • Nitrous Oxide (N2O)

  • Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)

  • Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)

  • Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6)

  • Nitrogen trifluoride (NF3)

Not to mention the still circulating, ozone damaging chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), and the ‘new-generation’ hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs).

CO2, Methane and N2O are getting their share of attention - and rightly so. The rest not so much which I’m trying to help address. And as I’ve come to find out - once you see this problem - it is impossible to unsee it…
